It is confirmed that the male Barbarian is the same Barbarian featured in Diablo II. He is depicted as an aging man with a white beard and graying locks, but he still possesses his trademark muscular structure.
In addition to the male Barbarian, the players will be able to choose a female version of the character. She is depicted as a muscular woman with striking orange hair. Whether she has a similar backstory as the male Barbarian is not known at the moment.
The male Barbarian showed that each item equipped would reflect on the character's appearance. But it may be noted that the Gothic Helm when equipped on him, looks like a Bone Helm from Diablo II

我走遍了天南地北， 经历了世界上不同的民族， 文明和动植物群， 当站在 Bastion's Keep 的古代堡垒城墙上却第一次感受到真正的惊吓。我本来是想拜访那些在神圣的亚瑞特山上传奇 强大并且残酷的双手持武器愤怒战斗的的野蛮人。
可是现在，我看到却是那些被某些强大力量摧毁得支离破碎的山头。我不得不承认， 我根本无法理解眼前所见到的一切； 然而这些都是我亲眼所见， 无可置疑。 这里究竟发生了什么事？ 以前那些庄严的战士都去哪里了？
虽然他们曾经被误解为嗜杀成性的侵略者， 但是现在他们的悠久和高尚的历史已经被重新正确的承认了。这里现在成了最悲壮的惨剧， 那些我们十分熟悉的， 有着以 “警戒” 为传统概念文化的高贵野蛮人全部消失了。野蛮人视保护亚瑞特山和里面神秘物品为他们誓死的职责。他们认为如果他们不能履行这个职责， 或者埋葬在亚瑞特山的斜波上， 他们会被否认是一个真正的勇士之死， 而且他们的灵魂将会世上永远随处漂流得不到尊重。
如果还有些野蛮人活着， 他们肯定已经陷入了绝望之中。也许他们是传说中跟野蛮人一样体格和凶残的庞大怪物， 盲目冲动和野蛮的野兽。家园和信念的破灭是不是摧毁了这个伟大的民族？
